This page goes into detail on the ingredients we use in our Raw Chocolate Energy Snack recipes.
You will see a couple references next to each ingredient, one being (Elemental Taste), & the other being (Energy).
(Elemental Taste) refers to the (Elemental Taste) of each ingredient, as (Energy) relates to the the (Energy) each ingredient has on the body. For example, Cacao is Bitter in Taste and Heating in Energy.
When creating our raw food recipes we combine & balance all of the (Elemental Tastes) together which offers a balanced food and follows ancient food combining techniques used for thousands of years.
We hope this page gives you a deeper understanding of how we combine all the superfoods and specialty ingredients in our raw food recipes, and why. Once you learn the basics about energetic food combining, it we be easy for you to come up with your own easy raw food recipes.

Elemental Taste-(Sour, Sweet) Goji berries are a staple in Chinese tradition. Goji Berries are a source of protein with naturally occurring polysaccharides and antioxidant properties. Goji Berries are also a source of naturally occurring iron.
Elemental Taste-(Bitter, Astringent) Raw Cacao, also known as Theobroma Cacao, or to us as Chocolate, dates back to before 600 A.D. in the Mayan Culture. Traditionally, the beans were ground into a paste and drank by Mayans of high status. Indeed it was a special drink.
Superfood Snacks sources pure Criollo Ecuador Arriba Nacional Cacao Beans grown in high elevation fields and hand harvested by the native local people.
These are old growth Cacao trees that are growing in mineral rich soil. We never source Cacao that is mixed in with the CCN51 variety of Cacao or any other low quality hybrids that are common in this area. We use Cacao that is fully mature and ripe when harvested.

Chocolate liquor (cocoa liquor) is pure chocolate in its liquid form. Like the cocoa beans (nibs) from which it is produced, it contains both cocoa solids and cocoa butter in roughly equal proportion.
It is produced from cocoa beans that have been fermented, dried, roasted, and separated from their skins. The beans are ground into cocoa mass (cocoa paste). The mass is melted to become the liquor, and the liquor is cooled and molded into blocks known as unsweetened baking chocolate (bitter chocolate).

Superfood Snacks uses an Agave Nectar that is clear, 100% organic, and naturally produced. The average serving of table sugar is made up of 50% fructose and 50% glucose. The average serving of high fructose corn syrup is made up of 55% fructose and 45% glucose. The clear agave nectar we use is made up of 48-49% fructose and between 4.9%-8.4% glucose. The remainder is composed of inulin, Honey is about 50% fructose. Other agaves range about 55% to 90% fructose.
Brazil nuts are a source of many nutrients including protein and antioxidants. They have a a source of high selenium content, which makes their protein content complete.
Mango is a source of antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins including vitamin A (beta carotene), vitamin C and minerals including selenium & iron.
Blue Green Algae is a source of antioxidants, iron, vitamins including vitamin B12, essential fatty acids and minerals. Blue Green Algae is a source of naturally occurring trace minerals and amino acids.
This exotic fruit was once known as the "Gold of the Incas". Native to Chili, Ecuador, and the Peruvian highlands, Lucuma naturally is a source of beta-carotene, niacin (vitamin B3), and iron.

Apricots are relatives to peaches and are small, golden orange fruits with a sweet tangy flavor. They are a source of beta-carotene, fiber, viatmin A, and vitamin C. Apricots are a low calorie, nutrient filled superfood that combines perfectly with the dark chocolate in our raw food snacks.

ORGANIC HEMP PROTEIN POWDER
Hemp protein powder is a vegetarian source of essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and fiber. The fat present in hemp is also one of the few food sources of the fatty acid known as gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).
Spirulina is similar to sea vegetables such as dulse, kelp, nori, Kombu, arame, and wakame. One of best traits of spirulina is the protein content, which can be 50 to 70 percent protein by weight. It is a also a source of all of the essential amino acids.

Coconut palm syrup is the nectar that comes from the flower stem of coconut palm trees. This is a very sustainable process, as it does not hurt the coconut tree or the coconut crop. This syrup is a great replacement for maple syrup, honey, or other sugars.
Currants are a small berry like fruit with a tart flavor, native to Europe. They are a source of nutrients such as copper, potassium, manganese, as well as fiber.
