Reishi mushroom is one of the most revered herbs in the Ancient Chinese Tradition.   It has been used in China for well over 2000 years.   It is believed that the first emperor of China had used Reishi mushrooms for medicinal purposes and as an herbal remedy.  Reishi was prized so much (partly die to it’s rarity in the wild) that it outweighed the value of gold.  Reishi is referred to as the "Herb of Spiritual Potency" and the "Ten-thousand Year Mushroom.”  Reishi is most often used as a general tonic.

Reishi mushroom is often found growing in the coastal areas of China on decaying logs and tree stumps.  It is known to some in Japan as “the Phantom Mushroom” due to it’s rarity and difficulty to locate.  In japan, the majority of Reishi growing in the wild can be found growing on old plum trees.

Today, Reishi mushrooms are cultivated in the United States, as well as several Asian countries.  There are six different color shades of Reishi, including yellow, white, purple, black and the most known used variety being a deep reddish hue and shiny exterior.  Just like Cordyceps Mushrooms, Reishi creates and elegant addition to raw chocolate and other superfood creations.

Reishi is thought by many to have the ability to stimulate and regulate the immune system and is regarded by many as a very beneficial fungus to have around.  Some common uses for Reishi Mushroom include additions to teas, soups, herbal elixirs, raw chocolates, smoothies, desserts, nutritional toppings, supplements and more.  The most common traditional application for the fungus is cut up and boiled in an herbal tea.
