ORGANIC DRIED BANANAS

Bananas are thought to be one of the best natural food based sources of potassium.  Bananas are low in fat and are excellent healthy source of carbohydrates.  They also contain pectin, a soluble fiber that helps normalize movement through the digestive tract.

Bananas technically do not grow from a tree, but actually from a root in the ground that produces an above ground stem.  The bananas branch off separate stems in clusters, which are called “hands.”  Each hand of bananas can consists anywhere from ten to twenty bananas, which are called “fingers.”  

As the bananas begin to ripen, the starch turns into sugar and the bananas become sweeter.  Ever notice those brown spots on bananas?  Those are sugar spots.  Chances are, if your bananas are developing brown spots than they are getting past the ideal ripening stage and should be consumed soon after.

Fresh, raw bananas taste delicious in raw food smoothies and also add a wonderfully creamy texture.  bananas are also excellent when used in raw vegan puddings, cakes and other desserts.  Organic, raw and dehydrated bananas are fantastic in raw chocolates, cereals and more.  You can try them in a recipe that you want to add a tropical flavor to.

Bananas may even make you happy!  They contain tryptophan, (an amino acid) and B6, which in conjunction can help the body to produce seratonin.  
 
 You’ll have to try having a banana next time you’re in a bad mood and see if this works for you!  Personally, sun-dried raw organic bananas in raw chocolate always cheers me up!

Many people enjoy eating bananas with breakfast or before a grueling workout, due to the wholesome carbohydrates it provides.  It may be an excellent snack pre-marathon or yoga class, as it is filling yet light.  They are also extremely affordable!
