Blue Green Algae is a water based organism also known scientifically as prokaryotic cyanobacteria. It contains antioxidants, iron, vitamins including vitamin B12, essential fatty acids and minerals such as calcium and magnesium.
Blue Green Algae contains naturally occurring trace minerals and amino acids. Blue green algae also contains protein. It is made up of 50 to 70 percent protein. Blue green algae is commonly grown for human consumption in pristine lakes and ponds and grows at a fairly consistent and rapid rate.
Two forms of blue green algae that are commonly consumed are Spirulina and AFA, also referred to as “Aphanizomenon flos-aquae.” Some people report that after taking blue green algae as a supplement in their daily diets, they feel as if they have more energy, endurance and mental clarity.
